Acquired Data Without Leads And Sales Conversions Is Useless

Leads and Sales Conversions are the bedrock of businesses!

In order to have a successful run of your business online, you need to establish a solid process which can help you achieve leads and sales conversions consistently. Without this, you’re pretty much going to go round in circles, and wallowing in unnecessary competition.

I’ve got a couple of questions for you…

  • Are you focusing on the wrong data within your business? (i.e. data that doesn’t really add value to your business)
  • Are you interpreting the data the wrong way? (i.e. looking at the numbers, and concluding that everything’s good, when it not)

Whenever someone tells me he/she has X-amount of reach for a post or hits on his/her website, my follow up question usually is…

“How much leads and sales conversions did you achieve, based on that data?”

There’s usually silence after that question. Some would wave it off, and say it doesn’t matter!

Acquiring leads and sales conversions is beyond just getting data.

Don’t get me wrong, getting good data from your activities is a sure way to get fired up (inspired… motivated!), which can lead you to restructure your funnels, content, marketing, etc, in order to start getting more leads and sales conversions down the line.

My Failure:

I once ran a FB ad which reached over 40,000 people, but when I checked my conversions, I only had just a little over 100 sign ups. That number may look good for some, but for me, that was total failure… something was wrong somewhere!

What to do?

Pause, restudy, understand the flaws, decide the next step (end it or carry on), act based on your decision. Never take your eyes away from any campaign that involves money… if you’re not careful, you’ll be paying the “stupidity tax” (I didn’t coin that… one of my mentors did).

Sadly, most business owners just stop at the initial stage of the data, and go off patting their backs for a “job well done!”

Er… it doesn’t end there. There’s still more work to be done.

What’s the end goal?

The end goal of most campaigns, regardless of the size of the business, is to achieve leads and sales conversions. It could also be phone calls, email enquiries, app downloads, store visits, quote requests, etc.

When time, effort, and money are spent, there’s need for results based on one’s set goals. The time we spend on social media should be rewarding right? Otherwise we won’t even bother!

In our quest for positive results online, we’re bound to come across various types of information, which may give us what we need, or overwhelm us, or discourage/encourage us, or just outright mislead us.

How do we avoid the negatives, and stick with the positives?

Two ways…

#1. Specificity:

I want to generate 40 leads in the next 30 days. How? Find a problem I can solve, create a lead/read magnet with solutions, give it away for free via social media posting or ads.

When you are specific and focused on what you’re meant to achieve, every other thing becomes less noisy (note: this very post might just be one of the noises you need to avoid, and if that’s the case, then stop reading here… focus is imperative, if success must be attained!).

#2. Implementation:

I need x-amount of tools or systems to achieve my goal of 40 leads in 30 days. This is what I need to do (list out the things you need to do and ensure everything is in place).

Without action, our plans are only going to stay that way, until they fade off our minds, only to be awakened when someone else has implemented the same thing or similar… er… you don’t want that to happen right?

So, to wrap this up…

Data helps businesses create systems, processes, sales processes, marketing campaigns, events, etc., but ultimately, it has to drive the business towards leads and sales conversions.

There’s nothing wrong in striving to get a great number of followers on social media, but it has to have a rewarding impact for both parties (you and your followers). So focusing on “what you can do for them” as opposed to “what you can get from them” will make a huge difference.
