Would You “Sell Your Brain” For Profit?

Would you like to “sell your brain” and make some money?

Don’t freak out… I’m not asking if you would literally “sell your brain” 🙂

Whenever I get into the rhythm of work, I get to “sell my brain” as much as I can, until I decide to ‘call it a day’. I’m sure this is something you do as well, especially if you run a business online.

The idea of “selling your brain” has to do with using your knowledge and ideas to help others out, and also generating income in the process.

You could “sell your brain” through…

  • The emails send to your email list
  • The blogs/articles you write
  • Videos you create for YouTube or any other platform
  • Podcast sessions you hold weekly
  • Social Media posts you put up daily
  • Q&A or Mastermind sessions you hold
  • Webinars/Workshops you present on
  • Consulting/Coaching sessions with clients

These are just some few ways you can “sell your brain” to those within your circle of influence. It’s all about exploring your options, and seeing which ones can help you achieve greater results (both for you and your clients) down the line.

Here’s the thing…

The way people buy online today has greatly changed, and if you look closer, you’ll notice that the average buyer (or consumer) is savvy enough to do some research on what he/she is looking to buy. People now depend on relevant information to make buying decisions.

What has that got to do with “selling your brain”?

Everything!

The person who is in buying mode does not wake up and ask… “I wonder if there are ads out there that I can click on to buy what I want?”

He/she does not care about that, or how “great” a business says it is on their website. He/she is looking to get educated about the product or service he/she wants to buy, in order to avoid making the wrong buying decision.

That’s where your knowledge comes in; this is the right time to “sell your brain”!

With that said, let me set a balance here…

If your ads are well structured and the targeting is right, then you may have the chance of attracting such individuals. I’m not ruling out ads… I still value them; but one needs to learn how to use Content Marketing effectively in order to stand out. If you are running ads that leads people to where they can access relevant information, then you’ll have an edge over your competition.

The truth is, people are jaded with Ads on a daily basis (especially Google Display Ads), and they are now becoming blind to them. What does that mean for you if that’s your only source of traffic? Well, you may end up getting burned (i.e. lose money and get minimal or zero traffic).

Just in case you’re asking – “how do I really go about the process of ‘selling my brain’?” – here’s how…

You have to use value based content to position yourself effectively, because the person looking to make a purchase is looking within social media, Google, online forums, review platforms, etc, to find out what others think.

They are asking questions, and they need answers!

If you are well positioned with the right information, then you are more likely to attract these types of buyers.

I believe having a good content marketing road-map will enable you to know…

  • What to do
  • How to do it
  • Where to do it
  • When to do it, and
  • Whom to do it for

The more you “sell your brain” to the right people, the more you’ll get to create a solid presence for yourself and your business online. If you also have the right offer in place, anyone who’s in buying mode, reading your information and getting educated would not hesitate to grab your offer, as long as it resonates with him/her.

If you are not yet using content marketing within your business, then it’s something worth considering. But you also need to know that it’s not just about creating content… anyone can do that!

It’s about creating relevant content that will solve problems and set you apart from the rest. You don’t need to be a professional copywriter to be able to craft them.

All you need is an idea of what the market wants, your willingness to learn how to provide relevant content for consumption and actually getting it done. You’ll also need to stay consistent, regardless if nothing happens at the initial stage. This process is not a “one hit wonder” or “fly by night” approach… you’re in either in for the long term or you’re not.
