Are You Getting The Most Out Of Your Website?

If you own a website, then you are 10 steps ahead of most businesses that don’t. However, all websites are not created equal.

Some are just static, ineffective platforms, while some are setup to ensure the leads are captured and sales are derived.

Which category does yours fall under? Is it functioning the way you want it?

In order to break free from any form of struggle when trying to promote your business online, you need to learn innovative ways of positioning your products/services (especially on your website).

Majority of small businesses own a website; however, most of these websites (as I mentioned earlier) end up becoming “online brochures” (i.e. they just exist for show, but nothing productive happens on or through them).

The reason this is so is because business owners have been led to believe that once they create a website and do SEO, the sales will start pouring in.

But that’s hardly the case in the REAL world.

The insatiable quest for web traffic has led most small business owners to spend more and lose BIG.

The problem is hardly the traffic… it’s the conversions that matter. But most of the time, the focus is on the wrong metrics (the number of hits), rather than the right metrics (leads/sales; money out/money in).

Your website is your digital office, and it needs TLC (Tender Loving Care). If all you have done is create a website and leave it, then you have slowly killed your chances of attracting your ideal clients/customers.

Another aspect is your website’s contents. A lot of them are ridden with terms that only focus on the business, instead of the visitor.

Web visitors leave websites for several reasons, but the main one is when they feel there’s a disconnect (no resonance with what they need). Don’t make it about you; make it about them.

Oftentimes, business owners hand over the entire writing of their website copy to either the web designer/developer or some marketing person.

They don’t offer any input, and whatever they are handed is what they go with.

This approach is wrong! Here’s why…

You know your business better than anyone else. Even if you are not good at copywriting, your input on what should be added within the contents matter a lot. If you don’t do this, you will end up with what I call “disjointed content” (i.e. different ideas from different people, completely unrelated to the vision of your business).

When you get involved in what’s being created for your website, you’ll have ownership of your content. The duty of whoever you hire should be mainly to fine tune, proof read, etc.

So, what should you do?

First of all you have to be open to change. Without this shift in your thinking, you will always block off any chance of making head way.

Do you know exactly who it is your products/services are for? Focus on these people; don’t be too general in your approach.

Setup your website as a sales machine. To achieve this, you have to position the right lead generation elements on the front end.

Have a unique funnel system that will help you drive sales on autopilot. Ensure your website answers the core questions your target audience often ask.

Be ready to always make changes on the layout, content, etc, when necessary.

Be ready to invest in learning from a coach who has good knowledge of what needs to be done to improve your digital presence. If you want to stand out, make sure your branding speaks volumes (design, content, etc).

Be patient. The web is filled with all sorts of activities. Your ideal clients/customers are busy people. If nothing is happening right away, don’t panic; it’s a steady process.

For some it may be instantaneous, while for others, it may take longer to see results. Just keep doing what’s needful to ensure you attract the right prospects to your business.

This process is not cast in iron, and how it’s implemented will vary for different businesses in different niches.

The main thing is getting started. When your website is strategically optimised, you stand a better chance of excelling, regardless of competition or market saturation.
