How I Used Content Marketing To Generate 30+ Leads [Organically] From Facebook In One Month

Lead generation is one of the key things business owners on Facebook are grappling with. Most people are either boosting their page posts or running Ad campaigns from the Ads Manager.

I’m a huge Facebook Ads guy (I’ve been running Ads since 2012), but between the months of April and July 2016, I decided to pause all my ads, and experiment on using only content marketing to acquire organic traffic and leads (note: don’t try this if you’re not the patient type… it usually takes time to see results – just a heads up!).

I created content on a daily basis, and posted them within Facebook groups (no links, no sneaky calls to action 😉… just value based content). This helped me attract new likes to my pages, new friend requests, and ultimately, more traffic to my website (Facebook accounted for 94.6% of my social media traffic during this period. All organic… see image below).

In the month of June 2016, I decided to create a mini 5 days email course on how to get leads/clients from Facebook without spending money on Ads (text based content, delivered only via email). The strategies I shared within this course is what I’m using on Facebook, and it’s what’s helped me achieve positive results.

I’m no longer offering the course as a freebie, but if you’re interested in the contents (i.e. strategies), then you can get it as a downloadable PDF ebook for only £2.99. Click here (or the image below) to learn more.

Here’s what I did to get results (i.e. generate leads)…

  • I polled some of the groups I’m a member of to find out what business owners struggled with, when it comes to Facebook marketing
  • I collected the responses and used the information to create the mini email course (this is what I usually tell my clients to do; as opposed to creating a course first, without proper research)
  • I setup a landing page with the information about the program (nothing fancy… but carried bullets points of the 5 lessons the subscribers will receive)
  • I went back to the groups and created an introductory post on how to use Facebook for business, and then introduced the course at the end (note: I only did this on the days we were permitted to do promotions and share our links… it’s very important to stick to the rules of the groups your belong to 🙂  )
  • I started getting leads within a few hours of posting. By the end of the month of June, the total number of people who subscribed for the course were 37. Again, I didn’t use paid ads!

Here’s why I’m sharing this…

We are often bugged down with too many things when it comes to lead generation (whether it’s via Facebook or any other platform). The important thing to focus on is what our target audiences want/need.

The 5 days fee lessons was my lead magnet, but the primary goal was to sell my Facebook coaching programUltimate FB Authoritydown the line, and this process helped me achieve that.

Not everyone who signed up for the mini email course upgraded to the coaching program, but that always happens. You get to narrow down to those who truly need your services.

Now let’s take a quick look at paid ads…

If you are currently running ads via Facebook to your lead magnets or services, do your best to always add the human element within your ad copy (text, imagery, & CTA). Part of the reason for the Facebook new algorithm change in July of 2016 was because users were tired of seeing ads on their feeds.

But ads that do not look or feel like ads often get a lot of attention (clicks, likes, shares, comments). These types of ads carry a lot of value based content, and often address some key issues within them. It has to make sense to your audience… highlighting pain points and creating a promise for a solution (i.e. “want the solution? Then head over to my website to learn more” approach).

The bottom line here is that the marketplace is saturated, and in order to stand out, you’ll have to bring out your ‘A Game’!
